Prepared Meals in the Spotlight! August 20, 2007

Let me start by saying I used to love cooking. I’m a single mom of one daughter and I have a mate. We all live together. Currently I’m going back to school taking online classes working on a Master’s Degree in Business Management. I’m a fulltime homemaker and recently started a home business. Cooking no longer fits my hected schedule so I have been ordering prepared meals from a few different companies. These are not like those traditional frozen dinners in your local grocer. These are gourmet dinners prepared by chefs that can be customized with your favorite items and different portions.  This is very convienient for me during the week and saves me lots of time and money. You may have heard of some of these companies before. Recently I constructed a website with a lot of popular items and  some of my favorites. You can visit  my  One Stop Lunch & Dinner Spot

or check out some of my favorite places to order from. If you’re dieting don’t worry I have you covered. My site as well as the other sites I will list, offer several low carb and low fat items to choose from as well as healthy snacks and desserts. Always check back regularly I will be adding products daily.

My Favorite! Delightful Deliveries
If you’re not familiar with Delightful Deliveries, you’ll want to make it your business to do so! This is a unique site that offers the best of the best treats, gifts, prepared meals, gift baskets and much more. I love that place! But you don’t have to take my word for it, just click the link above and be dazzled! Oh yeah they have the PERFECT Valentine’s Day Gift’s and sales going on so don’t miss out on that. A special gourmet dinner delivered is sure to spice things up a bit.

The Idiot Proof Diet…Recommended! August 20, 2007

Filed under: Prepared Meals, Recipes, Weight Loss Trends — foodhype @ 4:05 am

I want to introduce a diet that works! Ever Heard of the Idiot Proof Diet? Well the name explains it all. This is a unique and simple 11 day diet that can be used over and over again to loose 9 pounds. I purchased and downloaded this ebook roughly four weeks ago and it really worked. I chose all the foods that I like eating the most and a menu was generated for me. This is a diet that encouraged me to eat more than my usual three meals per day and actually helped me to loose weight by doing so. This is a unique diet that doesn’t involve counting any calories. The idea is to shift calories instead of counting them. The Idiot Proof Diet is designed to track down fat tissue and burn it off with this special eating plan. I was completely impressed with my results after 11 days and would also like to make clear that I’m not presently in the gym. I was able to achieve these results without exercising. Keep in mind we are all different and have different needs but for the most part this is a simple routine that will promote weight loss and better overall health. APPLEBEE’S HONEY BARBEQUE SAUCE Free Sample from COPYCAT Cookbook August 20, 2007

Filed under: 5 Star CookBooks, Free Samples, Recipes — foodhype @ 4:03 am

1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp molasses
2 tsp dry mustard
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp liquid smoke flavor

Combine all ingredients in saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes. Good on pork, beef or chicken.

APPLEBEE’S HONEY BARBECUE RIBLETS (COPYCAT)

Riblets as desired
Applebee’s Honey Barbecue Sauce (above recipe)

Riblet (Rib) Preparation: For rib tips (“riblets”) and full racks, first season ribs with salt, pepper and garlic to taste. Then, sear the ribs on the grill/broiler until both sides are mahogany in color and the meat has begun to pull away from the bone (155 degrees internal temperature).

Place ribs on rack in deep pan/roaster. Cover bottom of pan with mixture of water and liquid smoke flavoring (4:1 ratio of water to liquid smoke) without mixture touching the ribs (it will make them bitter). Seal tightly with two layers of foil wrap to cover.

Slow cook in 275 degree oven until meat is tender. Time varies with how many ribs are being cooked, pan used and your oven temperature. Plan on anywhere from two to five hours, but check to be sure. The slower, the better for this process. Just make sure an internal food temperature of 155 degrees is maintained. (To moderate cooking for small amounts of ribs, try covering ribs with chopped onions, peppers and tomatoes. This also keeps them moist and adds a nice flavor).

When ribs are fully cooked and tender, remove from oven and finish off on grill/broiler until marrow in the bone tips “sizzles.” Brush with Honey Barbeque Sauce (recipe above) just before removing for service.

Serve with your favorite side dishes. Applebee’s serves their ribs with French fries, coleslaw and their special honey barbeque baked beans.
